Micaella Kourouna is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the Register of Registered Psychologists of Cyprus (R. No. 780). In 2012 she started her studies in the four-year undergraduate program of Psychology (B.A.) of the University of Cyprus, from which she successfully graduated in 2016. Then, from 2016 to 2018 she studied in the two-year postgraduate research program of the Cyprus University of Technology, where she obtained her master’s degree title in “Brain and Cognitive Sciences” (M.Sc.). Finally, in 2018 she joined the three-year Applied Postgraduate Program in Clinical / Counseling Psychology of the European University of Cyprus, from which she graduated in 2021, specializing in Clinical Psychology (M.Sc.). Finally, she successfully completed the one-year specialization training in “Systemic psychotherapy of children and adolescents and parent counseling” in the academic year 2022-2023.
Her clinical experience, through her internship within the three-year Applied Postgraduate Program in Clinical Psychology, included collaboration with different populations and settings. Specifically, she had the opportunity to collaborate with the Cyprus Mental Health Services (Limassol Psychiatric Clinic), with the “Ithaki Charity Organisation” (a charitable association for the support of people with dementia), with the Prevention and Counseling Station “Ithaki” (KENTHEA) and finally, with the Center for Applied Psychology and Personal Development (KEPSYPA) of Cyprus College in Limassol. The collaboration with the above settings equipped her with clinical skills at multiple levels, conducting psychological evaluations and applying therapeutic interventions to children, adolescents, adults and the elderly with various psychological difficulties (e.g. anxiety disorders, depression, grief, interpersonal difficulties, personality disorders, bipolar disorders, self-harm, suicidal ideation, low self-esteem, difficulty adjusting).
Today, she works as a private practitioner in Limassol, offering psychological services outside and inside GESY.
